For making the dosa paste:

  • 1 cup whole green gram/sabut moong dal
  • 4 tbsp rice powder
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1/2 tsp salt

For preparing the dosa topping:

  • 2 grated carrot
  • 1 chopped green capsicum
  • 1 tsp chaat masala powder
  • For cooking on tava/griddle:
  • 2tsp of cooking oil/dosa
For making the dosa paste:

  1. Soak the green gram overnight or for 6-8 hours in water.
  2. Drain excess water and grind it into a smooth paste by adding some water.
  3. Add the rice powder, salt and water. Mix well into a pancake like batter. ( nor too thin nor too thick)

For preparing the dosa topping:

  • Mix the grated carrot, chopped capsicum and chaat masala into a bowl.

For cooking on tava/griddle:

  1. Heat a thick iron/nonstick tava.
  2. Spread oil using a peeled onion. Poke the onion with a knife half way through. Then dip it in oil from the other side. Use this oily side of the onion to spread the oil on the tava.
  3. Take a ladle full of dosa paste. Spread it in a circle on the tava. Now take a flat spatula to spread it evenly in a circle.
  4. Drizzle oil on it. Spread 1 tablespoon of dosa topping on it.
  5. Overturn it after 2 min. Let it cook on the other side for another 2-3 min.
  6. Turn it again. Dosa is ready to serve with coconut ginger chutney and tangy sambhar.
